Before you request the State to license your teen, TX mandates that parents complete 30 hours of driving practice with their teen in the driver's seat. Out of these hours, ten must take place at night. Enrolling in Humble drivers ed or online driving courses can help you and your teen prepare for this essential experience in teen drivers education.
Elite Teen Drivers Ed - 7 steps to Teen Licensing
1. Elite Classroom Instruction (32 Hours)
2. Teen Obtains Teens Permit / Learner License
a. Students eligible for a permit after completing our Humble drivers ed program must meet the following criteria:
· TDE Course Fee Paid in full
· Passed the Road Rules & Signs Test (Green Certificate available 2 business days after eligibility)
The test is given initially after the third day of the online driving courses, and students can retest on Fridays.
b. To obtain a Permit or Learner License, submit the following to DPS:
· DE-964 green certificate from Elite Driving School
· Verification of Enrollment from the teen’s high school or a parent if homeschooled
· Completed DL-14A for Texas Driver License (black ink only)
· Identity verification (Birth certificate & social security card & others; see the DPS website)
· Completed Texas Residency Affidavit with supporting documents:
o (Water/Electric bill, Vehicle registration & others; see back of the form)
· Glasses for Eye Exam
3. Elite “ 14 hours In – Car” Instruction starts after Elite receives:
a. Create your online user account at www.schedule2drive.com for a fee of $19.99 using the school code C2702 to start your Humble drivers ed journey.
b. To activate your schedule2drive.com account, please submit the following to the Elite Driving School Office:
· Texas Learner License / Permit & completed Driver Readiness Packet.
c. Parents must schedule a session every Tuesday by going online between 5pm and 8pm.
· You can schedule online at any time, but an open slot is guaranteed if you log in to schedule on Tuesdays from 5pm to 8pm. For assistance, call the office at 281-446-2608 if no session is available. (COVID-19 ADJUSTMENT REQUIRED)
· There is a maximum of 7 days break between sessions. Students must wear tennis shoes and bring their permit and glasses.
· Cancellation of a session must occur more than 24 hours in advance, or a no-show fee of $50 will apply.
· A total of 12 sessions are required to be completed in approximately 12+ weeks. Teens must keep their permit for 6+ months.
* Please note that COVID-19 may require adjustments in observation hours for safety reasons.
After completing your online driving courses, schedule a license packet pickup meeting on the homepage.
4. Behind The Wheel with Parent & Licensing Phase
a. Teens are required to complete 30 hours of driving practice at home with an adult. This is an important part of their teen drivers education, whether they're enrolled in Humble drivers ed or other programs.
· The supervising adult must be 21 or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and have no restrictions.
b. Out of the total hours, 20 must be during the daytime and 10 at night (only one hour per day will count towards the requirement). These guidelines can also be complemented by online driving courses for additional learning.
5. Complete ITTD 2hr workshop (at Impact Texas Teen Drivers Website Online)
a. After completing Humble drivers ed, schedule a meeting to pick up your license packet on the home page.
b. Pick up your license packet and the green DE – 964.
c. Create an account using your email address and input your information: Commercial Driving School, C2702.
d. Print your certificate, which must be valid within 90 days of your Road Test. If you are interested in online driving courses or teen drivers education, be sure to explore those options as well.
6. Schedule Road Test with Elite or DPS
a. Our Humble drivers ed offers a Road Test Prep Course available on the same day as your test for just $100.
b. You can schedule an available road test for $155 with Elite by visiting www.elitedriversed.com, where we also provide online driving courses.
c. To schedule a road test document submission and approval appointment, please bring the following documents to the Elite Office:
· Green DE 964 Certificate
· ITTD Certificate
· VOE from School
· DL-14B
· 30 HR btw Log

7. Teen Provisional License for Teens under age 18 (Graduated Driver Licensing Rules)
a. After completing Humble drivers ed, followed by the Parent BTW requirement, a 6-month waiting period, and passing the road test, new drivers must adhere to the following regulations.
b. You may not operate a motor vehicle with the following restrictions:
· more than one passenger in the vehicle under the age of 21 who is not a family member
· between midnight and 5:00 a.m.
· while using a wireless communication device.

Ensure that your Teen has completed the Humble drivers ed program by paying in full and successfully passing the road rules and signs test with Elite to receive the green certificate. After that, you can easily create an In Car Preparation Appointment online. Bring the green certificate issued to your Teen to your SCHEDULED DPS Appointment to obtain their Permit/Learner License as part of their teen drivers education.

Take the sealed envelope issued by Elite to DPS after completing your humble drivers ed course. Schedule an appointment with the DPS online. Inform them that you have passed the driving test and present the sealed envelope; do not open the envelope.
